International Forum on educational practice (IFO)

The IFO is founded by E&S Advice and Management and RPCZ/Bazalt, in cooperation with the Dutch Council of Primary Education and with support from the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

The IFO is organised as first  with SBL, ESAN, Octaaf, De Vlietacademie, Het Nederlands Jeugdinstituut, Kennisnet, Edventure, HCO, CNV Schoolleiders, DOBA en Onderwijsadvies, the Teacher training college of Windesheim and the University of Applied Sciences Zeeland on the 11th, 12th, en 13th of March 2009 a big founding congress in Zwolle, The Netherlands.

IFO objective
IFO wants to offer a platform where theory and educational practice can meet internationally on a regular base in a sustainable way.
IFO wants to translate emerging practices, trends and promising developments into useful approaches for day to day educational practice.

 IFO strategy

  • IFO will be coordinated by a strategic group (E&S, Bazalt, PO-council);
  • Activities will be coordinated by a 'programme commission' composed of members of participating organisations;
  • IFO is an endless journey where theory and practice meet annually;
  • Every two year we're aiming at a big international congress. The next one will be held in November 2010. In between congresses smaller events will take place (meetings, masterclasses, virtual events, etc.);
  • Each IFO congress will have some new questions to work on as a result. So the working agenda will grow each year and push forward developments;
  • Congress questions will be deepened by groups of practioners and researchers and will be monitored and infused by our international group (Fullan, Barber, Kagan, Pickering, Hopkins);
  • In IFO we know three groups of 'project owners'
    o Experiments (process managers)
    o Action research (lectorate/knowledge circles)
    o Blended learning (moderators)
  • All IFO's activities are evidence informed
    o You can read more about them
    o New questions will be addressed continuously
    o Continuous reports in (new) media and in next congresses
